The
ISES DC chapter leaped into spring at this
month’s program. Warm temperatures, gorgeous
views of the Capital, exceptional cuisine
and impressive presentation, stunning floral
arrangements, lively music, talented actors,
outstanding ethics program, and more than
100 happy ISES members and guests made for
a grand March dinner.
For
those who could not join us, the ethics
program was well-done. In an entertaining
manner, we discussed 3 ethical issues near-and-dear
to the event planner and supplier heart:
A
client, who questions a planner’s proposal,
contacts the supplier directly for lower
quote and to check his availability.
Planner who commits the client to the
supplier before the client signs the contract.
Planner who offers the supplier to be
on his/her preferred list of vendors for
a fee.
Discussion
centered on the planner-supplier-client
relationship and the necessity for communication
to avoid or minimize problems. It was very
interactive; there was no right or wrong
response, just many opinions.
