In
keeping with tradition, ISES DC stoked the embers of
the holiday spirit with a festive party and benefit
auction. The glistening elegance of The Arbor Ballroom
provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of merriment
and fundraising.
The Silent
Auction offered an extensive array of gift baskets,
vacation packages, restaurant meals, goods and services.
Over one hundred ISES members, friends, family and guests
bid on a wide variety of items ranging from a Stay in
the Islands to Belly Dancing lessons. Personal favorites
included an elaborate gift basket stuffed to the brim
with sensual treats and an offer for weekend at the
Hilton Washington Embassy Row displayed with a lavish
bathrobe.
This year's
auction was a great success! We raised over $5,300!
A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the DC Foster
Kids and the DC ISES Scholarship Fund. The Auction Committee
and the Board extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone
who contributed to the success of the auction.
The Arbor
Ballroom treated us to an impressive reception and buffet
dinner. Hors d’oeuvres included large lobster ravioli,
wild mushroom pansotti, salmon rolls with capers and
Reuben crostini. The buffet cuisine, featuring Artisan
Salmon topped with red pepper sauce and Chicken Allouette,
was masterfully prepared and the delicate cream sauces
floated lightly on the palate. A flavorful spinach salad
accented with fresh berries and mandarin oranges was
a delightful accompaniment. The Arbor’s European-style
dessert buffet featured mousse, tarts and a chocolate
pear cake that was completely irresistible. Hilary Bradley
of Chocolate Chick/ Chocolate Swan contributed to the
decadence with a chocolate fountain.
The Old World
charm of the Arbor’s richly-hued interior and spectacular
Austrian lead crystal chandeliers were enhanced by A
Vista’s imaginative and decorative Venetian-style panels.
Korry Hetherington of Party Cloths draped the tables
in sumptuous tapestries, golden satins, brocades and
patterned accent pieces that were rich in color and
texture.
Entertainment
Exchange contributed the sweet sound of Bittersweet,
a four-piece band with an amazing singer. The music
flowed throughout the evening and no one could resist
at least one joyful twirl across the dance floor.
The evening

Again, special thanks to all our contributors:
