Exam News for 2007
An
improved CSEP program was announced at The Special Event
January 2007 in Los Angeles. After many months of discussion
and planning by ISES
and its new testing agency, Schoeder
Measurement Technologies (SMT), a new CSEP application,
exam and renewal process was revealed. Complete CSEP
information may be obtained at http://www.ises.com/csep
but the highlights include:
Qualifications:
- Minimum
of three (3) years employment experience in the special
events industry
-
Current, full-time employment in the special events
industry
Application:
- Purchase
the official CSEP
Exam Candidate Instruction Manual from ISES. Complete
the application inside the manual and return with
List of 35 Points, Three (3) professional references
and exam fee by deadline.

Upon receiving approval of application (about 5 weeks),
candidates will be eligible to register for the exam.

Exam

Candidates have one (1) year to take the exam.

Exams are administered several times a year in North
America, Europe and Asia. Go to www.smttesting.com
for nearest location.

Written exam includes a Content Outline – formerly
the Blueprint but now in a logical event production
sequence rather than by categories (i.e., ACMLERM)
- Exam includes 100 multiple choice questionnaire and written portion based on Content Outline
Recertification
-
Applications due on or before November 30 of the fifth
CSEP Exam anniversary date
-
Applications received between December 1 – December
31 will incur a $50 late fee
-
CSEPs who fail to recertify by December 31, will lose
CSEP status and will have to take the written exam
to regain use of the CSEP designation
-
NEW – Emeritus Status – for CSEPs reaching
retirement
-
Must be 60 years or older
-
Held CSEP designation no less than 10 years
-
Submit application with fee and 300-500 word essay
on how the CSEP designation helped your professional
life and why it’s important to retain the CSEP
designation
ISES DC Study Group Information
ISES DC will resume its CSEP Study Group in the fall 2007. The CSEP Study Group will meet six (6) times within a twelve (12) week period before the exam date to review vocabulary and phases of the Content Outline.
Below is a tentative 2007-2008 schedule. Location, date and time is TBD, based on group preferences.
