ISES History
The International Special Events
Society (ISES) was founded in 1987 in response to phenomenal
growth in the industry, a growing demand for promoting
professionalism, and providing continuing education.
ISES is the only international association which serves
as an umbrella organization bringing together the many
different disciplines involved in the special events
industry.
Who
is ISES?
International Special Events Society is comprised of
over 2,800 professionals in 27 countries representing
special events producers (from festivals to trade shows),
caterers, decorators, florists, destination management
companies, rental companies, special effects experts,
tent suppliers, audio-visual technicians, party and
convention coordinators, balloon artists, educators,
journalists, hotel sales managers, specialty entertainers,
convention center managers, and many more . . .
ISES
helps you get ahead in your career . . .
-
Through your local chapter network. With 29 chapters
worldwide, you are able to participate by attending
local meetings and education seminars, and receiving
chapter newsletters with local industry information.
Plus, you'll meet special events professionals from
your region -- people who have the potential to become
suppliers, clients, and/or partners to your business.
- By
giving you access to an ever-expanding resource library.
Expand your horizons -- call ISES Headquarters. We
will point you toward the right person, resource or
ISES service. Remember that in any profession, information
and advancement go hand-in-hand.
ISES
meets your need for continuing education . . .
-
Through Event World, the official publication of the
International Special Events Society. Event World
introduces you to the latest trends, provides practical
information and creative ideas, and lets you stay
on top of today's competitive special events industry.
- Through
the Conference for Professional Development (CPD).
Hands-on training, well-known industry speakers and
educators, networking, and renewing old friendships
and business contacts are just a sample of what this
conference offers to you every year.
- Through
ISES On-Line, a bulletin board service for the special
events industry, and the ISES Web Site (http://www.ises.com).
Stay in touch with special events colleagues, seek
broad input from industry professionals, access proprietary
databases, and more.
ISES
gives you the recognition you want and deserve . . .
-
The ISES logo on your business card or in your company's
advertisements and newsletters tells your clients
and your peers that they are working with someone
who is committed to performing the highest standards
of customer service and providing the highest quality
of product. The Principles are listed on the back
of this sheet.
- Through
professional accreditation, the CSEP designation.
Becoming a CSEP (Certified Special Events Professional)
means you have attained the hallmark of professional
achievement in the special events industry.
- By
participating in ISES' prestigious awards program,
ISES Esprit. ISES Esprit was created to honor the
excellence and spirit of cooperation within the special
events industry.
- By
getting your name in print in the ISES Worldwide Resource
Directory. Get your name out to thousands of people
worldwide. This type of publicity and resource is
worth hundreds of dollars alone. But, as an ISES member,
the ISES Worldwide Resource Directory is yours free.
