The International Special
Events Society is a professional trade association
for the event planning
industry comprised of over
4,000 world-wide members and 41 chapters. Founded
in 1987, our membership includes special event
producers (from social events to trade shows),
caterers, decorators, florists, destination
management companies, rental companies, special
effects experts, tent suppliers, audio-visual
technicians, balloon artists, educators, journalists,
hotel sales managers, specialty entertainers,
convention center managers, and many more. The
solid peer network ISES provides helps special
events professionals produce outstanding results
for clients while
establishing positive working
relationships with other event colleagues.
The Mission of ISES is to educate,
advance and promote the special events industry
and its network of professionals along with
related industries. To that end, we strive to:
- Uphold the integrity of the
special events profession to the general public
through our "Principles of Professional
Conduct and Ethics"
- Acquire and disseminate useful
business information
- Foster a spirit of cooperation
among its members and other special events
professionals
- Cultivate high standards of
business practices.

- The Greater Washington, DC
chapter of ISES was founded in 1988 and we
are looking forward to celebrating our 20th
anniversary in 2008.
- ISES DC is the largest chapter
in the world with over 600 local members.
Our chapter is comprised of members from Maryland,
Washington, DC and Virginia, including Baltimore
and Richmond.
- In 2004, ISES DC was awarded
the “Chapter of the Year” by ISES
Headquarters for our achievements in the 2003-2004
year.
- ISES DC members serve on various
ISES International committees, including three
former International Presidents and members
of the Board of Governors.
- ISES DC is a proud member
of the Northeast ISES region which includes
Greater New York, New Jersey South, New Jersey
North, Philadelphia, Hampton Roads, Rhode
Island and New England.
