Oversee event logistics and communications planning for our commencement ceremonies ranging in size from 5,000 to 15,000 attendees in Orlando, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Norfolk, and Baltimore, including management of internal and external staff and vendors, interfacing and negotiating with selected venues, vendors, special guests, stage participants, faculty and the commencement committee.
Responsibilities:
Support commencement planning efforts by developing and updating communications pieces (postcards, posters, letters, email, etc.) to stakeholders. Maintain commencement website updates and coordinate changes with website team.
Respond to student, staff and faculty inquiries related to commencement.
Oversee commencement budget by processing and maintaining organized records of all invoices. Using Excel to forecast expenditures and manage day-to-day budget. Work closely with finance department in tracking and ensuring invoice payment.
Plan, coordinate, support other meetings/events, volunteer opportunities as needed by Strayer Education, Inc and Strayer University.
Interact as needed with public relations representatives and other outside vendors.
Support the overall efforts of the Communications Department. Assist department as requested with proofreading/editing of materials. Other duties as assigned.
This role requires weekend and evening hours.
Qualifications
Required:
2-4 years consulting/project management or events planning experience
Proven ability to craft detailed communication pieces to various event stakeholders (e.g., attendees, vendors, staff, speakers, etc.)
Dedication to providing excellent service to our students and faculty
Ability to manage multiple detailed projects to timely and accurate completion within budget
Bachelor’s degree in communications, business or related field required
Excellent writing, proofreading, and communications skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excel proficiency is critical.
Travel 10% work weekend and evening hours as needed
