Holiday Dinner

The recently renovated Sheraton National in Arlington hosted our December Holiday Party complete with complimentary parking, carving station and dessert buffet. The panoramic view of the city from the Galaxy Ballroom on the top floor was spectacular. It set the stage for Program Chair, Sara Muchnick and committee to create a wonderful balance between holiday merriment and professional education. Carolers (special thanks to Stacie Steinke, Make-A-Scene Music and Entertainment), cookie decorating (compliments of Design Cuisine) and camaraderie further enhanced the holiday spirit.

“Ring in the GREEN Year”, a cutting-edge topic presented by green event experts Lori Hill of lori hill event productions , inc in DC and Kevin White, CSEP, of Empire Force Events in NYC was packed with ideas about incorporating green into our events and our lives. Eric Hertsch of Frost Lighting, Inc. said that for the past six months he has been heading towards the green path and that learning more from Lori and Kevin reinforced the message. He now " understands the full scope of our actions, the magnitude of the entire footprint our industry is leaving and what we can do." Eric now sees green events not as an extra expense, but as an opportunity to add value to the services he offers.

ISES in the Community
A Chilling Plunge with a Purpose

Lori Hill of lori hill event productions, inc. was one of 225 Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia residents who plunged into the icy Chesapeake Bay on Saturday, December 8. Their purpose? To raise public awareness of the rapid advance of global warming and to express their demand for action at the state and federal levels. The plunge was the Chesapeake Climate Action Network’s (CCAN) 3rd annual Polar Bear Plunge, and it was by far the largest to date. It also earned the title of largest global warming event in Maryland state history.

The event, which was also a fundraiser for CCAN’s climate change campaigns, netted over $60,000. Lori personally raised over $1,300 making her 7th in overall fundraising. She wants to extend special thanks to the many ISES members who pledged to her cause

It's Inaugural Time!

It’s election year in DC and with that comes a political event scene unlike anywhere else in the country. ISES members are already hard at work pulling together campaign and inaugural events in and around Washington. Look out for more “ISES and Politics” articles as the year progresses.

If you are an ISES member involved in a political event and would like to be featured in this section, please send all information to ahibbits@asgpark.com.
